Chaplaincy and Faith Advice
The University Chaplaincy works alongside the other support services in the University and the Students’ Union and is open to people of all faiths and none, the team are based in the Faith Centre, University Road (behind Chapman Building).
Chaplains are appointed to serve all members of the University, students and staff, whatever your convictions or beliefs. You can talk to a Chaplain about anything you like - we don’t just do religion, and all conversations are confidential.
You are welcome to drop in at any time, the Chaplain will talk to you about any matter and can be contacted outside normal university hours.
The Chaplains also organise social, and faith-based events throughout the year. Visit the University Chaplaincy website for more information.
Contact a Chaplain - Peel Campus
Hi, I'm Kim - the Church of England (Anglican) Chaplain for the University of Salford.
I've studied for three different degrees at different universities, including my Doctoral research, and during that time also became a mum so I've experienced trying to juggle family and study, as well as the challenges of being a single undergraduate away from home.
I love music, reading, questioning and challenge about everything and anything in life, researching and teaching, the countryside and the sea, theatre and chocolate!...
Listening and journeying alongside people is at the heart of what I do as a chaplain. The Church of England is committed to serving everyone, not just its own members! So please feel free to call on me whatever your faith, philosophy or outlook, or if you simply fancy a chat about life.
Hello, I am Sister Teresa Wild, Catholic Chaplain on Salford University campus. I am based in the Faith Centre on Peel Campus, working along with Fr Shaun Braiden from St James RC Church, Pendleton Way, Salford, and with the other Faith Chaplains.
I am a Franciscan Missionary of St Joseph and belong to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Salford. I enjoy meeting students and staff in the Faith Centre and around the campus. I like classical music and various crafts. I am interested in aspects of social justice and care of the environment. There are usually tea and biscuits on offer in my office at the top of the front stairs in the Faith Centre. You are welcome to call in to say hello.
Hi, I’m Imam Rashid, the Muslim chaplain.
I have had the privilege to attain two degrees from the prestigious University of Madina, the second holiest city of Islam including a Diploma in Teaching and then MA in Comparative Religion from Manchester. I have worked extensively in both an academic and a support capacity in further and higher education throughout the North West and in various chaplaincies including prison and hospital chaplaincy. In addition to my role as a Chaplain, I also lecture for different departments across the University and I regularly lecture at religious and educational institutes across the country and abroad.
My pass time hobby is following the premier league and I most look forward to visiting the holy lands with my family. I value working with young people and supporting them and I enjoy putting on events. Seeing people enjoy the facilities of our Faith Centre, the support, the services and the events, gives me satisfaction and makes me love my job. I cherish seeing and being visited by any member of our University community over a cup of tea or coffee at my office. I can be contacted normally in term time on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at my office, room FC114 at the Faith Centre or by email or phone.
Hello, my name is Fr Shaun Braiden, I am a Catholic priest in the diocese of Salford. I am currently the parish priest of the parish of St James and All Souls, which is situated by the Salford Shopping City and Chaplain to the University of Salford. Together with Sr Teresa we make up the Catholic Chaplaincy team. I have been a priest for the last 21 years and absolutely love serving the church and people. I wouldn't wish to do anything else!
When I get the chance I enjoy watching or reading sci-fi and horror! When it comes to serious questions of life like Football I'm a blue! Manchester City forever! Salford Reds follows close by and thats rugby for those who are visiting!
I'm a local boy in the sense I was born Bury. If you are passing by the chaplaincy or by the parish shopping please call in for chat and you might get a brew!
Hello, I’m Neil and I’m the Christian Chaplain at the MediaCityUK Campus. I also work for the University as a Broadcast Production Team Leader and can be found in room 3.26.
I’m an active member of my local church and am currently training to be a Lay Pastoral Minister in the Diocese of Leeds.
Even though I am a Christian Chaplain, I am here for those of all faiths as well as those who have no faith. I believe that as a Chaplain, I can help staff and students, I can be a listening ear and offer spiritual support in good times and in not so good times.
To relax, I enjoy playing darts, although I’m not very good! I can also be found sampling real ale in a local pub.
